For anyone who walks a dog daily, a new path is always welcome, and the more scenic (for you) and aromatic (for them), the better. The dream outing we thought we’d never get to enjoy became a possibility in February with the launch of Dog Days at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. While the garden was just beginning to show signs of its spring awakening, there were plenty of furry visitors — big dogs, small dogs, long dogs, short dogs and round dogs — and an equal number of diverse humans. Lots of smiles, whiskered and otherwise, indicated all were enjoying the first of the five pup-friendly weekends scheduled in 2022. As for garden visitors arriving without a furry pal, some new friends were made. Best manners are required, of course, and do note your leashed pup has to be at least 4 months old and up to date on vaccinations for admission (an additional $5 per dog). Watering stations are plentiful and waste bags also are provided. The next Dog Days weekend is May 21-22 during regular hours, and the garden promises to be in full bloom. Visit fwbg.org for more dates every other month into November.
