What better candidate for this issue’s Photo Finish than the new mountain bike trails at the Westside’s North Z Boaz Park. Members of the Fort Worth Mountain Bikers Association — including Mark Harris, Wade Chappell and Randall Archie — helped raise money and in-kind gifts for construction of the trail. The grand opening of the first phase, a 4.2-mile segment that is part of a planned 100 miles of mountain bike trails in the park, is scheduled April 1 at the Calmont Avenue trailhead. Harris, Chappell and Archie say family friendliness is what sets the Z Boaz site apart from other, more challenging trails that the bikers association has worked on in Fort Worth. The level of difficulty is low, and parents will be able to sit at the trailhead and watch their children, the three say. “The goal is to have parents see their kids ride,” Archie says.
